Arsenal News: Gyokeres Turns Down Saudi Offers in Hopes of Emirates Move
Arsenal are gearing up for a busy transfer window with plans to bolster their attacking options in the coming weeks.
So far, the Gunners have completed just one signing—goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. However, deals for midfielders Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad) and Christian Norgaard (Brentford) are reportedly close to being finalized.
Defensive reinforcements are also on the way, with Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera agreeing personal terms and expected to join soon.
Attention is now shifting to the striker position. According to Portuguese outlet Record, Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres has rejected lucrative offers from Saudi sides Al Qadsiah and Al Hilal, with a clear desire to move to England—specifically, to Arsenal.
The Gunners are eyeing both RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Gyokeres, though the Swedish forward has become the more realistic target in recent days. He reportedly has the support of Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, who sees him as a player ready to make an immediate impact.
Arsenal are prepared to offer £60 million including add-ons, though Sporting are holding firm on their £69m valuation.
Gyokeres, currently earning £62,000 per week with bonuses, has even delayed his return to pre-season training, opting to extend his holiday in Spain. His commitment to leaving Sporting is clear, and he has already turned down interest from Manchester United.
Arsenal now face the task of finding common ground with Sporting to secure their top forward target.
